Robert Beamer

Job Title:
Office Manager
admin
Bio:

Robert Beamer brings to ISKME a strong background in customer service and retail management. A Northwest native, he has also worked in sales and operations for Nordstrom, Big Pagoda, and Henry Beguelin, just to name a few. Throughout his career he has managed programs for employee motivation, corporate fundraising, and is interested in how people interact and share in their work environment. As an artist, Robert uses painting as a means of communication and relaxation, and as a way to better his understanding of everyday life.

What are the biggest opportunities for change in education?:

The use of sites and forums that allow and promote the sharing of resources and strategies. In other words, the free sharing of information. We have OER Commons as a site where people can create new content and then share it with the world. These types of places will help drive the open education movement.

What does collaboration mean to you?:

The coming together of like-minded energies to create new and sustainable solutions to the challenges of modern society.

What's your most memorable ISKME moment?:

While there have been many, I would have to say the first Big Ideas Fest in 2009. Watching people come together and collaborate with such enthusiasm around a common goal was very powerful. An event like this makes for very strong relationships, ones that reach way beyond the fest and continue to foster new discussion in education and innovation.
